Mori Kougei’s Poke collection utilises the tsuki-ita technique, where sheets of wood just a fraction of a millimetre thick are carved and reassembled to form decorative inlaid surfaces. The one-of-a-kind results vary in colour and grain to reflect the character and environment of the wood at hand, and are detailed with finely illustrated patterns of all shapes and sizes – from clean-lined parallelograms to sprawling butterflies.
