Platycerium Bifurcatum-Staghorn Fern
An epiphytic fern, this stunning houseplant’s natural habitat is high up in the branches of trees.
Plant Care
Light: Bright indirect light, too much sun, and you risk scorching the leaves.
Watering: Give your plant a good soak when the soil starts to dry out (but don’t let it dry out completely. Think moist and not wet). This species can be susceptible to overwatering, so be sure to check that soil before you give it a drink. These fantastic fronds absorb water, so they appreciate misting or living in a humid environment—more humidity=less watering.
Temperature: 18-27°C These plants prefer things on the warmer side, so they are not a good choice for a cold conservatory.
Potting: Lots of options for these lovely plants. You could mount it to a board, hang it in a pot or put it on a shelf. These plants naturally grow on other plants, so think a rich in organic matter type soil. Our Super Chonk soil blend is a perfect match for when it’s time to repot.
Hot tips: Avoid moving this plant around too much, or it might stress out and start giving you yellow tips.
