Lacquered Wood Small Scalloped Tray
The founders of Scarlett and Sallis – India Holmes and Suzie Dowty – share an appreciation for eclectic objects. Their scalloped trays are handmade in Vietnam using the Son Mai technique; the wooden base is cut, moulded and covered in natural lacquer before a thin layer of clay is added. Then, layers of lacquer and colouring are applied which are sanded down approximately 20 times to reach the seamless, high-gloss finish.
