This results in cleverly conceptualized pieces with thoughtful details. This octagonal tray is a case in point, lovingly lacquered with the son mai technique with angular edges reminiscent of an emerald-cut gemstone. Handmade lacquer is very delicate and may be scratched or marred; use a soft, damp cloth to clean it and gently apply a car wax to restore the finish.
