Barleycorn refers to a particular range of chess sets used during the Victorian period. It’s said that they got their name from the foliate patterns on each playing piece and the resemblance they bear to barley leaves. This set, sourced for our Antique and Vintage collection, stays true to the traditional styles with one side stained red and the other left natural – all contained within a wooden box with hinged clasps.
