1970s Murrina Murano Glass Vase
Born on and named after the Venetian glassmaking island of Murano, murrina is a highly skilled technique that artisans have been perfecting as far back as the Renaissance. The decorative practice involves creating a patterned glass rod or “cane” with a specific design. The canes are then sliced into cross-sections and used to adorn other pieces. In the case of this 1970s vase, the technique is used to create a swirling smoky blanket that creeps up the side of the textured glass for a monochrome contrast. Please note, this item is a truly original vintage piece with slight imperfections and distinctive characteristics that add to its charm and celebrate its unique history.
